Institutional Impact & Career Advancement

WSAFI’s training frameworks have built the professional capacity of 157 early career researchers, forest officials, and conservationists. More than 50% of alumni actively utilize these field competencies to publish scientifically rigorous data, advance their conservation careers, and formulate actionable management plans for State Forest Departments. Driven by systematic evaluations and continuous participant feedback, WSAFI constantly updates its training modules to maintain a modern, cutting-edge toolkit for aquatic biodiversity protection across the country.

The 10th School in Aquatic Wildlife Biology and Conservation will be conducted across the ecologically significant Upper Ganga landscape, featuring four key learning sites: Barasingha Wildlife Sanctuary, Haiderpur Wetland and Narora Ramsar Site. Together, these sites represent a mosaic of riverine habitats, floodplains, grasslands and wetlands that support rich biodiversity and play a vital role in conserving threatened wildlife.

Participants will explore wetland ecology and migratory waterbird diversity at Haiderpur Wetland, aquatic biodiversity and river conservation at Narora, and grassland and floodplain ecosystems at the wildlife sanctuary sites. The landscape also supports important aquatic species, including freshwater turtles, Ganges River Dolphins and gharials, alongside diverse terrestrial wildlife. Through expert-led sessions and field-based learning, participants will gain practical experience in wildlife surveys, habitat assessment, species monitoring and conservation planning, while understanding the challenges of managing interconnected river and wetland ecosystems.
